Case Study

Plastic Expo for
Plastic Education

Typically, Bhutanese event managers focus on basic logistics—venue bookings, audio-visual setups, and managing a simple agenda. Nyingnor, however, embraces a deeper, impact-driven approach. When the Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) tasked us with organizing their "Plastics: Waste and Resource Expo" in 2024, we viewed it as more than just an event—rather, as a catalyst to propel Bhutan's waste management discussions forward.

In close collaboration with BES, we tailored every element—from interactive themed stalls to the Plastic Free Rivers Hackathon—around driving innovation and youth engagement. Students, monastic schools, and waste sector workers co-created solutions to address plastic pollution, culminating in practical action plans to share with the wider community.

Beyond the two-day showcase, Nyingnor coordinated media outreach and laid the groundwork for BES's Sense-Making Policy Dialogue. By integrating event management with strategic communications, we helped transform the Expo into a launching pad for broader policy discussions on Bhutan's plastic and waste future.
